A concussion is a type of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) caused by a blow, bump, or jolt to the head or body that makes the brain move rapidly inside the skull. This movement can temporarily affect how the brain works, but with proper vestibular treatment, most people recover fully.

Common Symptoms

Symptoms can show up right away or take some time to appear. They may include:

Physical Symptoms:

  •     Mild headache
  •     Feeling dizzy or off-balance
  •     Nausea (sometimes with vomiting)
  •     Blurry vision
  •     Sensitivity to light and noise

Thinking & Memory Symptoms:

  •     Trouble focusing or feeling “foggy”
  •     Forgetting things for a short time
  •     Feeling a bit slower when thinking

Mood & Sleep Changes:

  •     Feeling more emotional or irritable
  •     Mood swings, anxiety, or feeling down
  •     Sleeping more or less than usual

If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s important to take it easy—your brain needs time to heal. Pushing yourself too soon can slow down recovery and make symptoms last longer. Schedule a vestibular consultation with our team to assess the severity of your concussion and create a personalized recovery plan. We’ll guide you through a safe, step-by-step approach to resuming daily activities without overstimulating your brain—helping you get back to feeling your best and doing what you love!
