Whiplash-Associated Disorder (WAD) refers to a range of symptoms that occur after a whiplash injury, typically caused by a sudden acceleration-deceleration force on the neck. This often occurs in rear-end car accidents, but can also result from sports injuries or slips and falls.
Symptoms of WAD (In some cases, symptoms of a concussion may also be present – See Concussion)
WAD symptoms vary in severity and may include:
- Neck pain and stiffness/decreased range of motion (most common)
- Headaches (often originating from the neck)
- Shoulder and back pain
- Tingling or numbness in arms or hands
- Dizziness
- Fatigue
- Difficulty concentrating or memory problems
- Sleep disturbances
- Emotional symptoms (irritability, anxiety, depression)
If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, especially after one of the causes mentioned above, consider booking an appointment with us. Our team will assess your condition, determine its severity, help reduce pain, improve mobility, and create a personalized treatment plan to support your recovery.
