What To Expect

If you’ve been injured at work, be sure to inform your employer and promptly report your injury to WorkSafeBC. Once your claim is registered, you’ll receive a claim number, which is essential to accessing treatment coverage. With your WorkSafeBC claim number, you can book an appointment with our physiotherapy team where we will assess your injury, create a personalized treatment plan, and submit a detailed report to WorkSafeBC.

WorkSafeBC structures treatment into blocks, with the initial block typically covering up to 16 sessions over a six-week period. You will work closely with your physiotherapist during this time as they support your healing journey and help you return to work as safely and efficiently as possible. Our dedicated team specializes in treating work-related musculoskeletal injuries, ensuring you receive the care you need.

FAQs

What do I need to bring with me?

  • Care Card
  • WorkSafeBC Claim number
  • Comfortable clothing which will allow easy assessment of the injured region

What are some common workplace injuries we see?

This is not an exhaustive list, but some of the most common work-related injuries we treat include:

  • Sprains and strains (back, neck, shoulder, etc.)
  • Tendonitis (elbow, wrist, shoulder)
  • Rotator cuff injuries
  • Sciatica and nerve impingement
  • Ankle sprains or fractures

  • Concussions and head trauma

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Thoracic outlet syndrome
  • Chronic pain from repetitive tasks
  • Overuse injuries due to high-volume workloads

Do I need a doctor's referral?

A referral isn’t required to begin treatment. All we need is your WorkSafe BC claim number.

What happens when my treatment block ends or I've used up all my approved sessions?

If additional sessions are needed, your physiotherapist will submit the request on your behalf. Please be aware that final approval is determined by your case manager.

When can I go back to work?

Recovery timelines vary from person to person and depend on the severity of your workplace injury. Your physiotherapist will be able to provide a clearer picture after your initial assessment and once treatment has begun. In some cases, you may be able to return to work on modified duties or reduced hours — a process known as a Gradual Return to Work (GRTW) — depending on your progress and your employer’s ability to accommodate your needs.
