FAQs

Does Shockwave Therapy hurt?

It can be uncomfortable, often described as a “deep ache” or intense pressure. However, this sensation is necessary as it means we are targeting the injured tissue. The intensity is adjustable, and you are always in control.

How do I prepare for my first appointment?

  • Please arrive 10 minutes before your first scheduled time to register all pertinent information.

  • Please bring the following:

  • Doctor’s referral (if you have one)

  • Personal Health Care Card Number

  • List of current medications

  • ICBC clients: Bring your Bodily Injury Claim number and adjuster’s name

  • WorksafeBC clients: Bring your WorksafeBC claim number

  • Wear comfortable clothing (shorts for lower body injuries), and shoe wear as exercise may be prescribed if appropriate.

How quickly will I see results?

Many patients experience immediate pain relief after the first session due to the analgesic effect of the waves. Permanent tissue healing typically occurs over the course of 3-5 weeks.

Is Shockwave Therapy covered by insurance?

Yes. If you have coverage for Physiotherapy, Shockwave is included under that umbrella. We can directly bill most major insurers.

Can I go back to work/gym after?

We generally recommend avoiding high-impact, strenuous activities or heavy lifting involving the treated area for 48 hours after a session to allow the healing process to begin.

How many sessions will I need?

While some patients feel immediate relief after the first visit, most conditions require between 3 to 6 sessions, spaced about a week apart, to achieve optimal tissue healing and long-term results.

Can I go back to work/gym after?

Shockwave therapy is incredibly safe and the machine we use is approved by health Canada. You may experience minor redness, slight swelling, or mild soreness in the treated area for 24 to 48 hours following the session, but this is a normal part of the body’s healing response.

Do you accept WorksafeBC claims?

Answer: Yes – but only our physiotherapy services are WorksafeBC eligible.  Our registered massage therapists do not accept WorksafeBC claims.

Do you accept ICBC claims?

Answer:  Yes – all our service-providers accept ICBC injury claims.  This includes our physiotherapists, registered massage therapists, kinesiologists (for the active rehab program), and chiropractors.  The following are the number of ICBC pre-approved treatments covered within the initial 12 weeks of the accident date:

  •  25 Physiotherapy sessions
  • 12 RMT sessions
  • 12 Active Rehab sessions with the registered kinesiologist
  • 25 Chiropractic sessions

Do you provide direct billing services?

Answer:  Yes – we offer direct billing services to 40+ insurance providers.  Some of the more common providers include:  Pacific Blue Cross, Sunlife, Manulife, Great West Life…and more.  Please call to inquire if your insurance provider is included.

What is the cancellation policy?

Please give 24 hours notice for cancellation of appointments or a service charge will be applied. For physiotherapy, the service charge is $20.
